This is where my journey into marketing started.
Alongside playing for the team, I managed the club’s social media, creating content to promote fixtures, share results, and build engagement. What started as something I did alongside playing quickly became a real interest, and where I began developing my skills in content creation and design.
Creative Design
During the season, after key milestones, I created recap carousels to highlight the team’s progress, including being crowned league champions. and a treble-winning season.
Each carousel used a mix of different graphic styles to keep the content engaging and enjoyable to scroll through, while still reflecting the success of the team.
This was something I worked on alongside my final year at university and part-time work, so it was all done in my own time, which made it a great opportunity to develop my design skills. Also, the creative freedom to do whatever I wanted is something I really benefited from.
Alongside regular content, I experimented with a range of different design styles across posts, testing what worked best visually and for engagement.
This included trying new layouts, colour schemes, and formats, as well as using AI tools to help generate ideas and develop more creative concepts. It gave me the chance to push my designs further and not just stick to one style.
Over time, this helped me build a better understanding of what catches attention and how to create content that feels both consistent and engaging.

Content

To finish the season, I created a short training edit titled “Train With Champions”, capturing what our sessions actually looked like day to day.
Being part of the team myself, I was able to film moments that felt natural and authentic, showing the intensity, standards, and atmosphere within the group after a successful year. The aim was to give people a genuine behind-the-scenes feel, not just polished matchday content.
It was about showing the work that goes in when no one’s watching, and bringing that side of the team to life on social media.

Analytics
Alongside creating content, I tracked performance to understand what was driving engagement.
Over a 30-day period, the account achieved:
-
45,120 views
-
5,540 accounts reached
-
53% of views from non-followers
Most engagement came through Instagram Stories, highlighting the value of consistent, real-time content in keeping the audience engaged and expanding reach beyond existing followers.

Print Content
I created a printed loyalty card for one of our sponsors, a local barber, which the club could use as part of a simple offer to players.
The focus was on keeping the design clean and easy to use, while making sure it still felt on-brand for both the club and the sponsor.
It was a good chance to work on something physical rather than digital
